do you need a detailed translation or just the general opinion of this review?
Oh, general is fine.
thanks!
P.S. Of course, if it's in some way negative, just lie and make it flattering!
it's rather descriptive (what is understood by punk, what is meant by jewish or specifically jewish in punk?) and neutral, not that much judgemental. but they call the book "fairly convincing" in the introduction. the reviewer calls it well researched and entertaining and "an important contribution to (not only) jewish history of the 20th century". :-) no lies, no whitewashing.
i'm just about to write a review as well. of course positive. can leave you the link then..
Hey Steven,
I also listened to that podcast now. Yeah, it is a rather descriptive piece on your book, many parts of the book are quoted and it is definitely rated "worthwhile buying and reading". The radio-man who did this review is the same man who wrote the book review in the German edition of ROLLING STONE-magazine. I did like the book-review in the magazine a lot, by the way - haven't read your book yet - but quoted the book-review from ROLLING STONE as "interesting food for thought" in my own Blog, lately. Cheers from Berlin, Katja (www.katjakullmann.de)
P.S.: Since I am writer too, I know how strange it can be, if people in foreign languages talk about your work, haha.
Thanks Freda and Katja. Both of your translations are much appreciated. And thanks as well to you Katja for mentioning me on your blog. I'll be sure to check in with your posts in the future. By the way, what do you write?
2 books up utnil now (one non-fiction, more or less on the gender-topic, and one small novel) - and looooaaads of articles, essays and reports for magazines and newspapers. (Unfortunately I haven't written much about music yet - but I am working on it - especially since I am a vinyl-addict.)
If either of your books are in English let me know. I'd like to check them out. In the meantime, keep going after that vinyl! I'm a big fan myself and am still feeling smug that I never got rid of my turntable when everyone said it was "archaic." "Ha," I say to them now, "ha ha ha!!"
